Overview

The new Continental GTC Speed is the convertible version of the new Continental GT coupé – which means it shares that car’s exciting new design and tremendously powerful new hybrid powertrain.

That powertrain – named Ultra-Performance Hybrid – pairs a V8 petrol engine with a powerful electric motor to achieve the best of all worlds: emission-free, silent electric only driving when you need it and the muscular power of a V8 engine when you hit the open road. With both working together, the car is capable of truly exhilarating performance. It can take you from 0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds), with a top speed of 177 mph (285 km/h)*.

And when it comes to styling, the Continental GTC Speed looks like no other convertible. The new front features stunning new oval headlamps, their stare made all the more piercing, thanks to sharply defined straight edges across their top sides. At the back, the smoke-tinted rear lamps are new too, their colour matching the dark-tint exterior detailing that marks out the Speed model.

Design

At the front of the car, those stunning new headlamps flank a dark tint matrix grille, exclusive to the Speed models. With dark tint detailing all around the car, alongside a new, body-coloured Styling Specification to enhance the side sills, front splitter and rear diffuser, the new Continental GTC Speed exudes racing character and road presence.

Inside, exclusive Speed features are on display wherever you look, from the colour split and ‘Speed’ embroidery on the diamond quilted leather and Dinamica, to the Speed-branded instrument panel graphics and sports pedals. The stunning new 3D diamond hide gives the door panels a tactile, sports-inspired feel, while the inclusion of the Colour Specification as standard means you can choose from Bentley’s entire range of hide colours.

With unique features designed specifically to enhance the open-air driving experience, such as heated armrests, a heated steering wheel and neck warmers built into the front seats, the Bentley design team has thought of everything. And for the ultimate in sporting luxury, you can opt to give all the interior brightware a darker, more purposeful treatment, with the Dark Chrome Interior Specification. It is an option to seriously consider, given how well it matches the exterior detailing – a combination that will become even more apparent when you have the roof down.

Performance

The new Continental GTC Speed is the most powerful convertible that Bentley has ever created. Its Ultra-Performance Hybrid V8 powertrain can deliver 771 bhp (782 PS) and an unbelievable 1,000 Nm (738 lb ft) of torque. That means that, when you put your foot down, you can go from 0-60mph in just 3.2 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds). The car’s top speed is 177 mph (285 km/h)* and you can raise or lower the roof at speeds of up to 30 mph (50 km/h).

To harness all this power, Bentley’s engineers have equipped the car with the Bentley Performance Active Chassis package, which comprises a number of advanced chassis systems that together, make driving the Continental GTC Speed easier and more exhilarating than ever.

They include twin valve dampers for the suspension, providing even greater variability in ride softness between the different modes, so you can enjoy a luxurious cruise in Comfort mode, without compromising on dynamic handling when in Sport mode. There is an electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD) which increases rear-wheel grip when cornering, allowing you to push the car to its limits with complete confidence. Bentley Dynamic Ride is a 48-volt electronic anti-roll system that adapts to different driving conditions, controlling body roll when cornering at speed without compromising on comfort during more relaxed drives. And lastly, all-wheel steering reduces the car’s turning circle at low speeds, while also offering smoother lane changing and overtaking manoeuvres on the highway.

Technology

Driving the new Continental GTC Speed with the top down is an incredible experience. And with ventilated seating for hot summer days, plus heated armrests, steering wheel and neck warmers for cooler drives, you can enjoy it whatever the weather.

For urban driving, the City Specification adds a variety of driver assistance features including a Top View Camera, Traffic Sign Recognition, pedestrian warnings, auto-dimming mirrors and hands-free boot opening. For the open road, the Touring Specification adds the Bentley Safeguard Plus warning systems, a Head-Up Display, a Night Vision Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist.

The car is fitted with both the wired and wireless versions of Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless phone charging. The Bentley Signature Audio system is installed as standard, however you may wish to consider the 16-channel Bang & Olufsen for Bentley system or the 20-channel Naim for Bentley – arguably the finest in-car sound system available anywhere.

With the new My Bentley App Studio, you can install the apps of your choice on the car’s system – think of it as an app store for your car. It means that if you choose to use a third-party navigation app, for example, you can run it directly on the car’s system, which in turn gives it access to data such as fuel and/or charge levels.

Optional features include the Front Seat Comfort Specification, which adds functionality to the two front seats including Postural Adjust, a Bentley world first that sees a series of air pockets beneath the seat’s surface inflate and deflate in sequence, with the ability to produce a unique twisting motion. The result is a virtually imperceptible massage for your muscles, reducing stiffness on long journeys. Seat Auto Climate, meanwhile, uses sensors in the seat to automatically control heat and humidity, so you feel comfortable throughout your drive, without having to make manual adjustments to the heating and/or ventilation.

Among the most impressive optional features, however, is the Bentley Rotating Display, which allows the central touchscreen to revolve out of sight at the touch of a button, to be replaced with a veneered panel featuring three stunning analogue dials.

Continental GTC Speed First Edition

To celebrate the launch of the new Continental GTC Speed, Bentley has created a First Edition specification, offering the design team’s pick of the best options, plus some exclusive features and finishes, all in one highly exclusive package.

On the outside, you will notice First Edition exterior badging straight away, as well as the beautiful Animated Welcome Lamps by Mulliner, which project a swirling light show onto the ground when you open the door. Step inside and you will encounter First Edition treadplates and seat embroidery, plus features that are normally optional, including the Front Seat Comfort Specification, with Postural Adjust and Seat Auto Climate. The car also includes the Bentley Rotating Display as standard and, for the ultimate audio experience, the incredible Naim for Bentley sound system.

Personalisation

You can make your car your own with a wide range of personalisation possibilities. There are seven standard paint finishes to choose from – a figure that rises to over 80 when you also consider the colours in the extended range, plus the satin and pearlescent finishes available from Mulliner.

The next step is to match your colour choice with one of seven available roof finishes, including modern matt fabrics and a contemporary tweed option.

Inside, the Colour Specification allows you to choose from 15 primary hide colours, plus 11 secondary hides for the cabin’s unique Speed colour split. A wide range of stitching and piping options is available, to enhance your upholstery further.

A range of finishes is available for the hard surfaces inside the cabin, from traditional high-gloss wood veneers to more contemporary open-pore woods, as well high-gloss ‘piano’ painted options, including Gravity Grey by Mulliner, Piano Black and new Cricket Ball, Imperial Blue and Burnt Oak. You can also choose from a selection of technical finishes, including Carbon Fibre and Dark Tint Diamond Brushed Aluminium.
